Episode 3: A Conversation with Jack Herney '92 (Hon.)

Exeter history and a five-decades perspective on the Academy from a faculty legend

Share

It was an honor and privilege to interview Jack Herney last week. As an honorary member of the Class of 1992, Jack is loved by all of us.

Even though he officially retired in 2009, Jack has continued to teach the infamous History 333 class almost every year since he left his formal role at the Academy. He works out 4 days a week at the Downer in Love Gymnasium and serves on multiple boards, gives talks for the school, leads Exeter alumni trips abroad — and so much more.

Seeing Jack now, you’d say he’s exactly as you remember him in the classroom around the Harkness Table. Youthful as ever, he was a bounty of Exeter Stories.

I am excited to present you with Episode 3: A Conversation with Jack Herney ‘92 (Hon.), and hope you enjoy it. Share it widely with your Exeter friends, as I know it’s not only relevant to the Class of ‘92 — but pretty much any Exonian that’s attended since 1968.
