I got together with Marshall Fordyce last month and we had a soul-filling conversation that I am happy to share with you. Marshall is, no surprise, incredibly accomplished. He is a doctor, a biotech entrepreneur, and CEO of Vera Therapeutics, a company he founded 8 years ago to develop medicines for people with autoimmune diseases.
Advancing professionally in the 2000’s and 2010’s, Marshall played a role in developing more advanced medicines to treat HIV, including a long stint as a Clinical Researcher at Gilead Sciences, the job that brought him from the East Coast to California 14 years ago. I was fortunate to be dorm mates with him in Webster South, and we had many Harkness classes together during our time at PEA. The same soulful, kind, caring, and service-minded person I remember as a youth is still there. But now, he’s equipped as a biotech leader and scientist with more potential impact for good than ever. Marshall and his team are innovating for the better health of thousands of people around the world, and using business as tool for impact. Talk about knowledge and goodness? This is it.
