What is the Exeter Class of 1992 Video Podcast all about?
This project is a volunteer-led initiative conceived and coordinated by Vivek Asija ‘92 with support from the class officers and members of the Exeter Class of 1992. We are not formally affiliated to any offices of Phillips Exeter Academy. Funds raised, however, as part of this initiative will be donated to PEA (annual fund, financial aid, or other priority as determined by the class of ‘92). Watch Vivek’s prologue here.
Goals include:
Give back to the wider Exeter community
Showcase Exeter values like Non Sibi and “Knowledge and Goodness” through the stories of our ‘92 classmates
Rejuvenate old friendships and make new connections
Lend our experience, expertise, and connections to current students, faculty, other alums, and to one another in the class of ‘92
Create new forms of expression and novel programming native to a digital layer of engagement that extends the Exeter alumni experience (e.g. digital harkness table, video class notes, long-form interviews, virtual dorm reunions, and more to be invented)
Transcend geographic distance with a digital communications stack that enables remote, time-shifted, and on-demand engagement across timezones (e.g. video & audio podcasting, livestreams, messaging apps, newsletters, and social media)
Demonstrate what a digital fabric connecting Exeter’s local campus and the global alumni community could look like. Enable Campus —> Alumni and Alumni —> Campus collaborations that would not otherwise be possible due to geographic limitations.
Expand the potential for robust sharing and collaboration not hindered by geographic distance and accentuate in-person interactions (informal get togethers as well as regional and on-campus sanctioned events).
For example: long-form interviews, emeritus faculty extended interview podcasts, alumni workshops, alum-generated internship opportunities, career networking, job shadowing, and more…
